Bulblet FernCystopteris bulbifera
This lacy fern spreads by spores and by bulblets that drop from the higher parts of the fronds. They are attached at the axis of the stem and leaflet. Usually found in dense colonies in limestone woods. While fronds can be up to 80 cm or longer they are weak and reclining. The shorter, wider fronds are usually sterile. Note the veins which terminate at notches and bear small round spore packages partly contained by the indusium or skin.
